Aesop | Bonsai Mirai

The life and creation of trees, with Bonsai Mirai.

It is a pleasure to partner once again with Design Week Portland, a city-wide series of programs dedicated to exploring design across disciplines. Joining this year’s celebrations, Aesop West End will transform into a verdant oasis to honor the art of bonsai—a method of cultivating small trees to mimic the shape and scale of their full-size counterparts.

Bonsai Mirai founder Ryan Neil, will discuss the life and creation of Bonsai. Neil spent years observing, listening to, and witnessing this nuanced art before devoting himself to his patient practice. Bonsai Mirai is an unmapped nursery-cum-workshop at the end of a long country road in St. Helens, Oregon, which fades out of civilization and into the forest. Housing trees of up to two thousand years old, Mirai stands as a testimony to the art’s never-ending process.

To honor this ancient art, Aesop West End is proud to host a selection of Bonsai curated by Ryan Neil in-store from April 5 through April 15.
